Dropping the purpose!

Have you ever ponder when you want to repose into the self and dive into deep meditation what is that hold you back? Is your mind stuck in relationship, job, guilt, anger or pleasant memory of past actions or anxiety of future, money, fame, name, people etc? Why the mind is stuck there, why it can't detach itself and repose into the self? Why the mind is jumping like a monkey and never come to rest?

Let's explore it. What and where mind sticks to. Have you notice as compared to our dreams we give more value to our actions/words in waking state. Isn't it! why so? Simple reason there is strong sense in the mind for the purposefulness and permanency of the actions/words from waking state than those in dream state. We are much convinced that there is purpose for these things like your car/job/relationship/money which we see in wakeful state etc etc. While mind do not dwell much on the events happen in dream state as it is convinced that there is no purpose of all that in real sense. Isn't it! (Though you can dig purpose for dreams also and make them real for your life).

Now take this same observation more concrete world you keep getting things/events/people in your life which you feel serve some purpose in your life. Like you felt car will serve a purpose so you own a car and conversely also as soon as things/events/people loose their purpose, life move on from there. For instance as you grow up you don't feel much purpose of toys therefore the mind is not stuck there. Isn't it! (Just a caution here it could be very blunt and seems against our moral values but I will just suggest to digest it as it is before you brush it, as it's very subtle).

Now taking this to peak of experience, realize that you have no purpose here, whether to love, enjoy, serve, live, die, gaining good marks, earning money, name, fame, music nothing. What happens to the mind! ahoo... It doesn't seem to exist even more. Then can it go and dwell in past actions or is there room for future planning!? It come back to the source. In the same context I remember one verse from Sri Tripura Rahasya (XVIII:137)

The sense of duality persists because there is the conviction of the purposefulness of the objective world. But such purposefulness and even durability is experienced even in dreams.

Just drop all the purpose and relax in the self Now, anyway there is no purpose here!

All Glory to Gurudev!

Eat Less, Digest More

Spiritual or self-help teaching is a slippery path to walk upon. Being a spiritual teacher comes with a danger that one can have a notion of knowing without knowing. For example, i t is one thing to intellectually understand yoga is good for the healthy body but then doing it every day to keep the body healthy is an entirely different thing. Similarly, it is one thing to understand the benefit of practicing acceptance for the peace of mind then to living the acceptance.  Let's  expand upon it a bit. There are three kinds of understandings viz intellectual, experiential and existential. The first level of understanding is the intellectual understanding which is the most superficial one, like understanding of the mental phenomenon, methods of quietening the mind, and one can easily intellectually understand this knowledge or inner science which is very similar to the understanding of any other field like physics, chemistry, mathematics etc. Here the process mostly involves...

Sakshi-The Witness

There is wisdom beyond every event. There is love beyond every person. There is infinity beyond every object. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar These are beautiful lines spoken by world renowned spiritual leader and humanitarian Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Though sounds very simple but these few lines are impregnated with vast wisdom which immediately bring the shift in consciousness by little dwelling. Other significance of these ' sutras ', the tenets of wisdom is that it covers most of mind stuff/activity/thought. If carefully deliberated one find mind dwells either on events, people or objects most of the times and all most all over conflicts whether personal or otherwise can be attributed to these three dimension of existence namely events, people and objects. Interestingly, events, people and objects brings two kinds of experiences, pleasurable or miserable. When these attributes brings pleasurable experience mind develop craving for those events, people or objects (e.g. partyin...
