Pious!

Just read these lines again as again. As I read these line my heart is full , throat is choked and eyes are wet. If a devotee has to express his love for his Master, perhaps so elegant words are rare to find in this universe. Sri Tulsi Das has put them in Sri Ram charit Manas (Bal kand/first canto) बंन्देउ गुरुपद परम परागा , सुरुचि सुवास सरस अनुरागा अमीय मुरीमय चूरन चारू , समन सकल भव रज परिवारू || १ || सुकृति शम्भुतन बिमल विभूति , मंजुल मंगल मोद प्रसुती जनमन मंजू मुकुर मल हरनि , किये तिलक गुण गन बस करनी || २ || Bandeu Gurupad Param Paraga, Suruchi Suwar saras anuraga | Ameeya murimaya churan charu, Saman Sakal bhav raj pariwaru || 1 || Sukruti Shambhutana vimal vibhuti, Manjul mangal mod prasuti | Janamana manju mukur mal harni, kiye tilak gun gan bas karni || 2 || मैं गुरु महाराज जी की चरण कमलों की धुल का वंदन करता हूँ जोकि सुख, सुगंध तथा अनुराग रूपी रस से पूर्ण है | वह अमरु मूल (संजीवनी जड़ी) का सुन्दर चूर्ण है, जो संपूर्ण रोगों के परिवार को नाश करन...

Happy Guru Purnima

Hindus attach paramount importance to spiritual gurus. Gurus are often equated with God and always regarded as a link between the individual and the Immortal. Just as the moon shines by reflecting the light of the sun, and glorifies it, all disciples can dazzle like the moon by gaining from their Gurus. What is Guru Purnima? The full moon day in the Hindu month of Ashad (July-August) is observed as the auspicious day of Guru Purnima, a day sacred to the memory of the great sage Vyasa. All Hindus are indebted to this ancient saint who edited the four Vedas, wrote the 18 Puranas, the Mahabharata and the Srimad Bhagavata. Vyasa even taught Dattatreya, who is regarded as the Guru of Gurus. Significance of Guru Purnima On this day, all spiritual aspirants and devotees worship Vyasa in honor of his divine personage and all disciples perform a 'puja' of their respective spiritual preceptor or 'Gurudevs'. This day is of deep significance to the farmers, for it her...

Mind: Mind it!

This is 100th post on this blog and I was just thinking about what we should pursue here as the blog reader are increasing and I am increasingly getting overwhelming responses on the diverse posts we are putting on the blog. We will be bringing more post which will help to introspect the deeper level of understanding in life. One of the subtle dimension which is the central force of the whole universe is MIND. We all know that we have mind yet we have not seen it with naked eyes and as you are reading these lines some part of yours telling you YES, this is true!; that YES is coming from the mind. Isn't it! We have not seen the mind yet we have experience this subtle field of bio-magnetic energy (why am I calling it bio-magnetic, I will come on it later) called Mind. This itself is enough to give us realization whatever we can't see is not necessarily false or non-existential or on contrary whatever we seen is not necessarily true and existential. Isn't it! This can also hel...

Q & A: Some Sincere Questions

One participant of my early Art of Living course raised these questions which I thought is worthwhile to answer here so that it can be helpful to others too. Q. 1. What's the difference between a Guru, Yogi, and a Swami? Guru: First of all I feel this space is too small to talk about Guru and the glory of Guru. Just one advice if you are walking on this path don't see Guru as physical identity. Guru is one who makes you realize there is no difference between Guru and you. Like Guruji (Sri Sri) says Guru, God and Self are synonymous. Now since God is one who is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient and We as ' self ' don't realize that omnipresence, omnipotence and omniscience BECAUSE we are asleep. The Guru is one who wake us up and give us this realization that there is no difference between God, Guru & Your own Self :-) Guru doesn't make the follower rather he brings us up to realize our true ' self ' Yogi: Yogi is one who is practicing any kind ...

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's message of non-violence in response of Attack

An unidentified gunman attacked on Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on 30 May in Art of Living Bangalore Ashram. Sri Sri again showed that the path of non-violence can only be achieved by collective effort of practicing meditation and taking the knowledge of life & self to every single human being on this planet. Then automatically this kind of incidents will not happen. Guruji (Sri Sri) next morning responded to press conference and again he proved to us that he is an ocean of compassion and embodiment of love. Sri Sri simply forgiven the gunman and invited him to sit in satsang in Art of Living Ashram in Bangalore. See video Also see article by Suhel Seth Art of Healing : Courtesy Times of India

Rishi Wisdom-1

Here are few amazing sutras for happy and peaceful journey of life from Rishi Vidhyadhar ji. 1. What should one talk about? When ever you hav a conversation talk about blessings, knowledge/self, guru stories, delegation of work, praising Any thing other than this is not at all required What should one not talk about ?? opposite gender, atheist, enemies, money. All of this has karma attached to this. 2. How to praise others? when ever you are praising any one praise in positive degree and not either in comparative or superlative degree. He said when ever Guruji praises some one He always says GOOD GOOD GOOD !! 3. How to ask question to Guruji? When ever you ask guruji a question do frame it as it starts from How and not why !! 4. Advicing people "Unless ones really helpless he wont listen to your advice so stop giving advice to every one " 5. Dealing with different people He said for duhki (unhappy) people stay away from them sukhi (happy) people be friendly people who are do...

Guru Story from Guru Purnima 2009

On the day of Guru Purnima in Chicago after grand magnificent satsang and soul soothing puja and dinner which was served as if it was heaven’s banquet when celebration was done and Guruji went to His suit and some of us from Pittsburgh Art of Living Family went there in the hope that we could get in and be with Him for sometime but all in vain there was so much of policing outside the His door so disappointedly we came back and I was walking in lobby and soon I saw 3 fellow teachers and just started following them and asked Birjoo where were those guys going :) he said to Guruji's suit and I with low heart responded हमारे लिए तो दरवाजा नहीं खुलेगा (door will not open for us) too much of policing :) then Birjoo replied that ऐसा बोल कर अपना दरवाजा ख़ुद से क्यों बंद करता है (by saying this why are you closing door for yourself). This struck me :) Next day TRM started and 11 AM Guruji came for session :) we had good time and when He ended the session again the same words struck me ag...

Krishna

5103 years ago Sri Krishna was born. Gokul means the family/society where there is knowledge. If you look at Krishna's life its amazing. As a friend, child, thief, musician, husband, teacher, lover from every aspect He was the best and complete. He was an uncrowned king. We still remember His journey from Brindavan to Dwarka. Krishna said 4 kinds of people worship me a) Miserable people b) Those who want something c) Those who want to know what is life and d) Gynanis. Know that I am not separate from the Gynani. Gynani is Me and I am Gynani. Radha is longing and Krishna is love. Vasudeva ( Ananda ) brings Krishna to Gokul when every one is sleeping. This means when the senses sleep Love comes out through ananda. Rama and Krishna are completely opposite in nature. Rama was born in the noon and Krishna midnight. Rama was always a shishya, i.e. a student throughout His life, whereas Krishna was always a teacher. He was a Guru even to His mother. Rama respected every one. Every one re...

Sri Sri University

Sri Sri University Formal education trains people to take up different roles in the society in pursuit of economic growth and social order. With the Indian industry poised to take off as a global economic power, the demand for skilled youth to guide and carry on this pursuit can not be underestimated. Paradoxically, it is confronted with an ever increasing number of educated youth, with mismatched skill-sets: youth with an abundance of technical knowledge but clearly lacking in focus on inner joy, initiative and creativity. Sri Sri University is an international initiative to address this anomaly by developing tomorrow's leaders, managers of change, trained to the industry requirements, with an attitude and skill-set transcending specific disciplines. Inspired by His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, students will look beyond their own limitations and share bigger responsibilities as worthy citizens and brim with confidence. In them we may see not just the smartest, but the leaders,...

Guru Poornima 09 Message

The Guru principle is so vital in life. The first guru is Dakshinamurthy, the embodiment of infinity woven so skillfully in the finite that the finite and infinite co-exist. There is an element of the guru in every human being. That wisdom in each one has to be invoked and awakened. When this element is awakened, misery in life disappears. It is the medicine for misery; the wealth of all knowledge. Gurave sarva lokanaam – the Divine Consciousness is the leading light of the whole world-of all the worlds. Bishaje bhava roginaam – It is the medicine for the ills of society, of life, of misery. It removes all misery. Nidhaya sarva vidyanaam Sri Dakshinamurthaye namaha – I take refuge in this Consciousness which is in my heart! The word guru is used today to mean expertise – like an expert in business management. Guru means enormous, the biggest. Of course, expertise is a part of it. There is perfection in everything. There is that depth. In our consciousness, wisdom comes to life wh...

Meditation & its secret-1

Meditation is an art by which one go beyond the reflexive, "thinking" mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness where mind dissolve and pure timeless, space less, blissful consciousness BEING which is described as सत्चिदानंद satchidanand (सत् -चित्-आनंद) sat-chit-anand (Truthful-consciousness-blissful) by the enlightened MASTERS. About Meditation there are so many myths and concepts. And the truth is what you experience that is reality for you. Here in this post "Meditation & its secret-1" and upcoming series of post on this title, I will be writing about my direct experiences of the inner journey, the obstacles and blissful experiences which keep coming as journey goes on :) As we sit for meditation what we do we sit STILL with EYES CLOSED that is for withdrawing reflexive mind from visionary senses, other obstacle is auditory disturbances (therefore quiet place is preferable). Now journey start as wondering mind has lost most of distractions which...

Sources of Enthusiasm

This one came to me while just coming to school this morning. In life there are different things which fill us with the spark of energy, make us enthusiastic & blow life in us. These are different situations, different dimensions which somehow touches the core of our being and take away all the dullness & make us like lump of energy TOTALLY ALERT & ACTIVE. I am calling them "sources of enthusiasm" Here I could stretch my consciousness to recollect the possible sources: 1. Inspirations Reading/Books : Have you noticed sometime when you are feeling dull and no hope in life and you stuck with inspirational reading may be a book, news article, interview and as we are going through the lines something start changing inside and by the time we are finish the reading we feel like taking some action, we want to do something constructive whether at gross level or at subtle level. SO KEEP READING INSPIRING STUFF (BEST FROM GURUDEV MOUTH) 2. Challenges: Have you noticed, som...

Time, Space & Mind

This one is really interesting: we have gone through different situation of life there are some moments which just take over us whether pleasant or unpleasant and then we loose our balance and roll down starts :) And then at some other time and space same events/similar events looses their importance and seams insignificant and do not touch us why is that...! it's a wonder ahoo...!!! :) At some time at some place same event become so big and take over us and at some other place and time it is just doesn't matter to us what a phenomenon what a wonder...! :) For instance for a kid playing with a toy, his toy is everything to him like if the toy is broken life is broke but as the same kid grow up that toy looses its relevance (TOY IS THE SAME). How does it work..... what is mechanism... here is what I think........... Its simple that when we are too attached and focused of something (object, event or people) then the consciousness is focused and sharp on the subject so much that ...
