Fixing the cause of stress-1

Many people suffer from the sleep disorders including; not able to sleep on time and get up on time, to feeling sleepy during work, to being night owl or insomnia. This adversely affect their work, relationship as well as confidence and self respect at large. Many of us make resolution about getting up early and may end up breaking it right next morning and then being frustrated about this; while for some it has gone to an extent that they have given up the hope that they can wake up before sun rise. Though we have heard many benefits for early risers including physical, mental, emotional and of course material benefits as well. But how to strike it is the key. Lets understand some of the science behind it.

Our mind body complex work in rhythm in accordance to external stimulus like light and we create our biological clock which is known as circadian rhythm. Here is the pictorial representation of normal 24 hr cycle of physiological activity.

Now if you closely look into this picture you will realize in different time of the day there are different physico-chemical activities happening in the body. Some peculiar one are Melatonin which is hormone related to day light, its secretion start as the day light dims and evening takes over, body release Melatonin in the blood stream and it induces sleep. Also it can be noticed that around in the early morning when day starts, secretion of Melatonin stops which will cause wakefulness in the body.

Now we can induce ourselves against by putting in unnatural situation in today's high tech times. Like most of the people use computers, TVs, Cellphone with glaring screens whether watching movies, internet chatting, messaging etc and they complains that they can't sleep early on time and that's why can't get up. One of the reason scientists are suggesting now is watching these glaring screen like putting day kind light on our retina which keep giving the signal to pineal gland (source of Melatonin) that its not yet time to sleep. So secretion of Melatonin is delayed and no sleep is induced which seems very reasonable and I tried on myself and it work. So what I did when I decided to go to bed before hour and half I stopped watching TV or computer etc and dimmed the light at home and to my wonder I could go to bed right on time and could get up on time after a sound sleep :-) Also felt much more fresh during the following day. So like wise there are fixed time for sleep, fixed time for food, fixed time doing physical work and fixed time for doing mental work and nature has given us those things already to us but what we are doing we are eating when we should sleep, we are sleeping when we should be doing yoga, we are doing yoga when we should having our meals now body can't keep up with this very long and first it get strained and after a prolonged time start breaking also. This explain the real cause of stress at least at physical level..! What do you say..................? :-)
